Industrial complexes can be amongst the most security conscious sites in the UK. The protection of assets and intelectual property is vital to the prosperity of the country.
Tecton has a rich history of supplying CCTV security products to sites that rely upon "airport" style security, and this has never been truer with the introduction of Tecton's VMS.
Such sites tend to have multiple security systems, all vying for an operators attention, should the worst occur. The VMS provides a convenient representation of events, and can present "workflow" or instructions to an operator to assist attentional focus.
Tecton products are ideal for high security sites, and especially those with restricted access, for a number of important reasons.
Our in-house development team has allowed us to create a platform that requires no routine maintenance. It's unique design is based upon our own software. Tecton recorders are not PCs and do not run an off-the-shelf operating system, so there are no windows or Linux updates to worry about, no anti-virus concerns and no need for defragmentation, deletion of temporary files etc..........
This also allows us to control storage in a way not possible with most other solutions. We eschew the central storage model, in favour of distributed storage, thus avoiding single points of failure. This is an important concept in the way Tecton build systems, and a theme we return to often. Everything in the system is designed to continue to provide security, come what may.
Our designs are conceived with low power consumption as a primary design aim. This is important not only to save on electricity bills (which it does), but also to avoid excess heat dissipation, which often would involve costly air-conditioning to remove.
Keeping everything cool also aids the longevity of the recorder, and in particular, hard drives.
Our unique disk operating system means that disks can be pulled out whenever required, just like a video tape. Even the disk that's currently being written to can be removed; the recorder simply buffers incoming data to memory, and finds the next available disk.

The British Library houses over 150 Million items, from daily newspapers to literally priceless historical relics. Clearly, security is important to this national institution. Find out how Tecton helped the transition to HD video surveillance and recording.
Tecton has a long established record of supplying the UK rail networks, so it's perhaps no surprise that the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) is one of the many rail projects that is protected by Tecton designed and manufactured equipment.
